Lion fish

Once again we feature a Lion fish as our fish of the week. Unlike those floating around the Red Sea, who seem to be either mostly noctural or at least very shy during the day, their Thai cousins seem more comfortable with spreading their fins, spikes etc during daylight hours.

Varicose Wart Slug

The Varicose Wart Slug is an expert in chemical defence. When these chaps get stressed they produce pungent toxins. A sort of BO really. Probably explains the fact that they are not predated. Just as well me thinks.

Cleaner Shrimps

Presumably Mike (our dive leader pictured here) had made arrangements beforehand with the Giant Moray (off shot to the right of this picture) about borrowing his cleaner shrimp for some gentle dental flossing.
If you are looking for a liveaboard that takes in the Similan Islands in Thailand you should check out the Colona VI. Small, friendly and very professional. www.phuket-scuba-club.com/colona.html

Look into my eyes ......

This week FOTW can exclusively reveal that some Giant Moray are now training in hypnosis as a technique to lure prey. This one tried without success I hasten to add to draw our photographer in in an attempt to lop off a stray thumb. FOTW would like to remind all contributors that they take photo's at the own risk.
